Filler Aftercare

WHAT TO EXPECT

It is not atypical for clients to experience some asymmetry in tissue texture for several days post-injection. This represents your body’s reaction to the mild trauma of the injection device.  The molecular properties of the formula injected also have characteristics that naturally attract water.

Treatment areas that tend to be associated with post-therapy swelling  (edema) include lip and under-eye. We typically see clients with at least 30-45% more volume of lip area than what will persist post-treatment. The appearance, as opposed to the tactile sensation, is most important in evaluating the need for further manipulation.

STRATEGIES TO MINIMIZE POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS

❤ Ice the treatment area to your level of comfort to decrease swelling. Please do not hold ice directly on delicate tissue; a light gauze pad is a safer technique to prevent thermal injury.

❤ Gently apply pressure to a fresh bruise to allow your healing mechanisms to be activated.

❤ Other modalities: therapies such as topically applied or systemic ingested arnica are therapies that may offer benefits.

WHEN TO CONTACT YOUR AESTHETIC TEAM

If there is visible asymmetry or texture changes that persist after 3-5 days, BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN TO HAVE YOUR INJECTION SPECIALIST MANIPULATE THE TISSUE BEFORE 7-14 DAYS. After this time, the product is less malleable.

Injectable services are typically well-tolerated. Immediate reasons to call your aesthetic team would include signs of infection or changes in color, sensation, or tissue. These are rare complications but warrant immediate action.
